Canada has an opportunity to create the best school food program in the world.
With the newly launched National School Food Program and Policy, now is the time to shape the future of school food in Canada.
This interactive Forum brought people together to share their stories and envision the way forward. Together, we can make sure programs reflect children and families, create local jobs, serve locally and sustainably sourced foods, and support the visions of communities.
I want to learn more
One thing that stood out to me was learning about how programs can start small, like offering just one meal per week, and then grow into something sustainable over time. It was also unexpected and inspiring to see the variety of approaches, from plant-based options to traditional foods like seal, and how creativity in preparation and packaging can support success.
