Join Forward Food for the official launch of their Practical Guide to Serving and Promoting Plant-Rich Foods in Schools, a bilingual (English and French) resource designed to make sustainable, plant-rich foods a successful and exciting part of school meals, classrooms, and food programs. This session will review the benefits of plant-rich diets, including health, sustainability, cost savings, and inclusivity, while sharing kid-friendly recipes and inspiring success stories. Participants will learn practical strategies to make vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, and legumes appealing and easy to serve, along with simple tools to promote them in cafeterias, culinary classes, student nutrition programs, and broader food literacy initiatives. Leave inspired with ready-to-use ideas and resources to support healthier, more sustainable school food in your community.

Bio:
MAKAYLA DEWIT is the manager for Forward Food, a flagship program of Humane World for Animals (formerly Humane Society International), which helps institutions across Canada and internationally increase their offerings of delicious and nutritious plant-based food options that are better for animals, the environment and human health. With over 10 years of experience in the food and hospitality industries and more than 5 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Makayla has supported the Forward Food program for 3+ years. She is very passionate about plant-based foods, nutrition and sustainability.
