School gardens are blooming coast to coast across Canada. The best school gardens are growing with innovative, affordable and easy to use portable sub-irrigated planters. Come, learn, and plant with us!
Audience members will be involved in the planting of sub-irrigated garden boxes, right there at the Forum site AND, simultaneously, with gardening colleagues and students who will be planting coast-to-coast – in St. John’s, Toronto and Victoria. We will create a direct, real-time garden-building experience to demonstrate how easy it is to engage students anywhere in rewarding, peer-to-peer experiential learning.
Come to this workshop, bring your taste buds, have fun, and don’t be afraid to get your hands a little dirty!
Bio:
ROBERT PATTERSON has 30+ years of international and community development, including hands-on experience on four continents with the United Nations and social enterprises. Robert’s work has focused tightly on promoting and installing space / water / labour efficient gardens at schools and with community groups. Since 2011, Robert has been founder / managing director of two social enterprises dedicated to hyper-localized, affordable horticulture: The Growing Connection, in Canada, and EcoHuerto, in Mexico.
