Lunch is Ready! – Preparing complete meals at high school food hubs

The Food Sharing Project leveraged funding from the National School Food Program to develop an innovative prepared meal program. Vacant high school cafeteria kitchens are repurposed to become production kitchens, preparing nutritionally complete meals provided at no cost to students in the host and neighbouring schools. Complete lunches, including a main, fruit and milk, are delivered to schools in response to feedback that an increasing number of students were seeking more filling meals rather than snacks. High school food hubs can generate 1500 meals per week for 5-10 schools and create volunteer and co-op placement opportunities for high school students.
