This panel will shine a light on how environments that are supportive of healthy lifestyles constitute a central, universal, and scientifically recognized driver of health prevention. In Quebec, the importance of healthy lifestyles has long been recognized, thanks in part to policies, measures, and strategies implemented by various government bodies. These initiatives contribute to promoting healthy school meals, making them a key public health tool in our society. The key to all of this: the wonderful intersectoral collaboration, unique and exceptional in Quebec!
Bio:
ANNIE MOTARD-BÉLANGER holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in nutrition from Université Laval. She worked for eight years as a nutritionist with Dairy Farmers of Canada. Since 2017, she has worked in public health at Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux du Québec (MSSS). She began her career working with families experiencing socioeconomic vulnerability. Since 2021, she has been a coordinator in the Child and Youth Development Department, where she coordinates various files related to perinatal care, early childhood, healthy lifestyles, and parenting.
BRIGITTE MARCOTTE holds a graduate diploma in management from HEC Montréal and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Université de Montréal. Her professional career has been primarily within various regional and sectoral organizations in Quebec’s tourism and agri-food industries. Recognized for her network expertise, her vision, and her rigorous, sustainable, and collaborative approach, she has worked on issues related to market development and stakeholder engagement, demonstrating skill and leadership in team mobilization and the achievement of results. Brigitte is currently Team Leader and is responsible for the Stratégie nationale d’achat d’aliments québécois at the Centre d’expertise de l’Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec. In this role, she coordinates the local procurement team, which supports the public institutions targeted by this Strategy in defining and monitoring their Quebec food purchasing targets.
GENEVIÈVE TOUSIGNANT holds a master’s degree in social work and is committed to the fight against poverty and social exclusion. With over 20 years of experience in the community sector, she has developed and implemented numerous food security projects in Montreal, promoting the social participation of vulnerable people. Her approach is distinguished by the integration of innovative interventions at the intersection of social and environmental issues, using them as levers for inclusion and social transformation. She currently works as an advisor on poverty reduction and community action policy development for the Government of Quebec, and leads government coordination on food security.
ANNE MARIE AUBERT has over 12 years of experience in federal politics and citizen engagement, which has made her a unifying leader with strong skills in organizational development and public policy. Convinced that Montreal can become a leader in the food transition, she has dedicated herself to this mission in her role as coordinator at Montréal – Métropole en santé (MMS) and at the Conseil du Système alimentaire montréalais since August 2018. Driven by the desire to work in this positive and engaged environment, Anne Marie offers support and guidance to mobilization partners to carry out their efforts. Working at the municipal level, Anne Marie is delighted to see the impact of the MMS team’s collective work on the daily lives of her fellow citizens and on her own.
