The PASUQ (Universal School Food Program in Quebec) is a groundbreaking and visionary collaborative effort led by leading school food organizations, working from an intersectoral perspective at the intersection of food security, healthy eating, and sustainable development. Launched in 2022, the initiative continues to shape the vision of an integrated and universal school food program in Quebec. This session aims to explore the history of the movement, its guiding principles, its governance framework, its current developments, and its outlook for school meals in Quebec.
Bio:
SÉBASTIEN DESAULNIERS has been working for over 15 years in program development and social innovation in the school food sector. After earning a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of Montreal in 2011, he has since taken on responsibilities in strategic planning, program management, impact assessment, and community partnership development. He recently joined the Quebec Collective of the Coalition for Healthy School Food to advocate for a universal school food program in Quebec that aligns with a framework of health prevention, sustainability, and local community development.
